Post Doc's CYOC
I think we should have a CYOC style story for the Lab as it would both provide an oportunity for more community participation and characterization of what the lab is as a place. Unfortunatly, I'm not a very confident writer so I'm coming to the RP forum to look for volunteers to write the first couple of entries (and to see whether others think it's a good idea in the first place).

We can start it here and then move it to CYOC once we get some momentum behind it. That'll allow us to make sure that not just any lab, but Doc's lab. The first entry should be someone coming up to the lab front entrance ending with the decision of who they are; a new employee, a refered patient, a lost traveler, a corperate spy, or any varient thereof. Anyone who would be interested in contributing please pipe up here.

I'd be unsure about moving anything to CYOC. The quality of writing there is atrocious, and I'd hate to see something halfway decent be ruined by branches shorter than this post yet lacking any punctuation, featuring random capitalization and at least four mentions of genitals. If some story arc is crafted, I'd rather it be on this site or another one with a better writer base.

I have nothing to add to this post other than that I agree with every word.

Post Re: Doc's CYOC
why would moving it to cyoc help any?

we know the writers over there suck, but same can be saif for this place now and then.

my main concern would be the sites owner, changes himself.he has
arbitrarily deleted whole sections of writing in the past, even when they followed his rules.essentially
if he takes a dislike to a thread or poster, its gone, regardless whether
its good or bad.

also some public terminals allow access to this site but not a registered
gay porn site such as cyoc.so i'd say no to any
association of this place with cyoc.

Post Re: Doc's CYOC
If you're talking about me, I only delete threads and posts for three cases.

First, when I archive a story into the Lab, the post here is no longer needed, the posted story has acheved its purpose. As feedback is usually very minimal, and over a month has passed since the posting of the story and the last bit of feedback, I feel there's no loss of information in deleting the whole thread to keep the archives clean and moving forward.

Any stories I feel fall below the standards of the Lab's guidelines, I move to the "Story Feedback" portion of the board, and respectfully ask that it be proofread and improved upon. And there they remain.

Second, I delete Spam on sight, as I have never had much tolerance for it.

Third, I sometimes (quite rarely) remove flamewar threads. As there hasn't been a need to be that severe in a good long time, I don't much consiter that to be a threat to any creative endevors.

These are my personal rules: step in where needed, but leave the rest well-enough alone.

If you're talking about RZR, the owner of the Forum and its server, I don't think he's even logged in for several months. If you're talking about Umg, Vidar or KCRock, the Forum's moderators, I've never seen them do any deleting except for Spam removal.

As for the CYOC, I don't mind if you put it here or not, just have a good time with it. This is all meant to be a good, fun hobby. Enjoy it.
